So I have a 68 455 from a Toro and the intake manifold is setup for a divorced choke. The quadrajet carburetor that I have is setup for a hot air stove choke.

Does anyone know if I could still use the hot air choke on the carburetor and just run a line somewhere along the intake or exhaust since my manifold doesn't have a stove?

edit: oh and I'd prefer to not switch to an electric choke if possible.

 

sure.well i don't know.years ago there was a kit made that had a 5 ft long or so piece of tube that would go to the carb then you just bent it to fit and run it along the ex manifold and clamp it to the manifold.but i haven't seen a kit like this in a looonnnggg time.but all you would need is say a piece of 5/16th brake line cut one of the flares off get a nut and make your own. the more length along the manifold the better.

 

Lots of options here. Converting the carb to electric choke is likely your simplest least expensive.
Plenty of vendors offer this. Be sure to run the choke off a "keyed" 12vcd source.

 

Agreed. This is what folks do when they install an aftermarket intake manifold that doesn't have a hot air choke provision.

Search the forums and you will find lots of info on wiring the electric choke.
