Distributor

I have this old points distributor sitting here and I can't seem to find a straight answer as to what it is. I was told it was an A/C H/O unit, but I have found both contradictory and confirming information on it. Anyone that is really knowledgeable on the 68 H/O know for sure?

I've seen that. I have also seen postings all over that says that information is incorrect so I'm not 100% on this. I know it's a 68 by the stamping, but......
Information is kinda all over the place.

Factory paper copy of PN manual [?] says

68 Toro/442 455 4 bbl

I can double ck if need be.

It's adequate for 'most any high compression BBO, but exact details of the advance curve may vary a bit from optimal for your particular engine.

I don't think it's a $1000 super rare H/O-Only thing.

My engine? lol...well my engine is either a 2004 4.3 V6 or a 2013 1149CC Honda.
My car is LOOOOONG gone my friend.
I am actually looking to ditch it if the price is right. And in 1968 the only "442" with a 455 would be the H/O (yeah I know it could be from a Toro too...), but that paper helps a bit.

Official "distributor degrees" specs for this distributor are:
Mechanical Advance Starts: 0.4°-2.4°@700 RPM
Mechanical Advance Full: 6°-8°@1,500 RPM
Vacuum Advance Starts: 8-10" hg
Vacuum Advance Maximum: 12°@18.5-20.5" hg

It is definitely a 1968 Model year distributor, and is listed as "455 High Compression, except Option W-34."

W-34 is listed as "Air Induction System, Toronado."

There is no other distributor listed as being for the HC 455 (except for the 111469 for the W-34 only, and the different models for the CD ignition), so this was for all 98s, all all Toros (except air induction), and all Delmonts and Deltas with the optional larger engine.
No F-85s or Cutlii were made with the 455 that year, except for the HOs, and since they were "specials," I am not sure whether those used the same or a different distributor.

Bottom line: They made a lot of these distributors for a lot of different cars.

I think most of the big cars got the low compression 455's...didn't they? So that would be this one. 1111288 1973407 455 LC

The big cars got high compression engines as I listed above.

As for the proportions, that would depend on the manufacture numbers of 98s and 88s that had the optional motor versus 88s that did NOT have the optional motor. Someone else has access to these numbers... Kurt?

Whoops, I "misspoke."

The HC motor was not standard on the Custom, the LC 2bbl 455 was standard on Delta 88 and Custom, the LC 2bbl 350 was standard on Delmont, but all could upgrade to the HC 455 (option L-31).

Corrected above.

The fact that it is "correct" for a 68 H/O doesn't mean that it's particularly rare or valuable. It's also "correct" for a four door 98 with a HC 455.
