Did I miss the memo?

When did people start asking stupid money for basic bench seats? Yeah, I know A-body buckets have been at that level for over a decade now, but $500 asking price for a run-of-the-mill B-body bench, and not even one with the arm rest? Does it at least come with a sample of the drugs that the seller is apparently on?

The most I ever got was $300 but it was a mint arm rest bench seat out of a 70 cutlass convertible. It was a very early take out. Most of them sell for $100 or less that I have had.

I don't know why someone would ask or expect $500 for a bench seat from a Delta 88 or 98. Especially since the bench seats in the B/C body were changed very little up until 1996.

Now, I might pay $500 for a MINT split 60/40 front bench AND rear bench seat in brown pillow velour. I haven't actively searched for this though since I had the interior redone in my 71 98.

Kind of my point.

"Asking" price is just that, and he may be asking it for a long time...although there are sayings about that too "A fool and his money..." and "There's one born every minute...".

That kind of money sounds excessive even in my relatively isolated market. I think I got around $150 for my last split bench with armrest.

I am constantly amazed at what people ask for many items. They seem to think it is old, may even be rare and forget about or ignore demand.

I couldn't give mine away, nobody wanted it. Now kids use it as a bench in the backyard.

maybe they are afraid of letting go for cheap or reasonable and then finding out it was worth a lot, the buyer sells it for 30 times more than it was worth. seems as tho everyone tries to make more profit than the next guy just by flipping items

Sold a non arm rest one about six months ago for $140 and it needed to be recovered. Took about eight months to sell. Probably helped that it was rust free which is rare in our area.

Not drug induced unfortunately. Look at the 6th word in your post....Mystery solved.
