Date night in The Olds!

Now that we have a little one, it's not everyday that we get to go out on our own. This past Saturday night, we called in Grandma and had some time to ourselves. To make it a truly classy night out, we took my black Ninety Eight Regency. This was actually the first time we've taken the car out just for a pleasure ride and it was awesome! We went to dinner and then stopped for some ice cream.

Of course, I was a little freaked out when we pulled into the restaurant's parking lot to see way more cars than I had hoped for. Luckily, there was one of those "pefect" spots available where nobody could park near me. It even had 2 giant rocks separating it from the rest of the spots.

Although I was a bit nervous to leave the car unattended, it felt great to actually get her out of the garage and enjoy her as a car for once and not be going to a show, etc. My wife had not been in the car in about 2 years and she was very happy to be treated to such a nice ride. She was really looking forward to it and it made her feel special which obviously made me feel even better! A classy lady in a classy ride, it doesn't get much better than that.

That's it. I just wanted to share how enjoyable of an experience it can be to use a classic car for an otherwise ordinary experience.

It really was great, thanks Tedd. We've taken my other 98 on vacation and road trips a number of times and as much as I love doing that, taking out the show car is a whole different experience. It definitely caught some eyes out there. It was almost funny seeing it out in the dark!

You can't get much more classy than a big, black, shiny Ninety Eight Regency.

Maybe this is a sign from God that you should use it more. Get it out & enjoy it. I am always careful where I park but I use my car to just do my running around.

Now, if a classy car like that has such a large back seat like it does, questions as to what activities are possible vs proper arise.

I tend to use my other 98 for more "running around" and hauling things. I'd like to use the black one a bit more but I guess that's a big benefit to having 2 cars. One for more everyday stuff and one for special occassions.

ha. We've actually taken my other 98 to the drive-in and it was great. The guy at the ticket window was in awe. He said "these are the cars these places were made for...we don't see nearly enough like this here".

Unfortunately there are only a couple of drive-in's that I know of and they're about an hour away from us so it's not all that convenient.

Isn't that what they were made for originally

For a show car I use mine far to much but what the hay they were made to get groceries when they were new why not now?

I get my biggest grins and waves when I meet another classic doing the same thing, I hope this trend is gaining in popularity....Tedd

I put seatbelts in the back of the 54 on Saturday. Yesterday was very nice and I took my wife, daughter and two grandsons to dinner with the top down. After dinner the granddaughter joined her cousins in the backseat and the son's girlfriend rode shotgun on the way back to the house. The folks at the little Italian restaurant we frequent really admired the car.

A 76 Regency coupe.
I bought a Navy blue with the
gittery paint the year before I
was married. This was one of those
for the wish I still had thread.

Dark blue interior, tilt, cruise, am/am/8 track,
air, trunk release,lotza lotza room...
Those sweet pillow type front and rear seatbacks....

A buddy and I came from Lubbock back to Tulia after
a week working there. Fri night we had been paid, put
a case on ice and gone! I remember looking down once and
it was pegged. I don't think if we had been stopped that
night that we would have got off with a warning...

John enjoy it every chance you can. It's a keeper!

Never too late to track another like yours down! Thanks, by the way!

I agree, you should post this in the "cars you wish you had back" post.
