I know this is extremely minor and goofy but it really helped me out, maybe somebody else will find this one day.
My '68 Cutlass has a Flaming River column with a large support plate under it. I just can't get my big hand in there to even touch the back of the gauges and I needed to change some bulbs. I rooted around in my junk pile and came up with a hunk of brake booster hose that's about the same size as the 194 bulb sockets. It wasn't stiff enough so I jammed two pencils through it. I cut two small slices in the open end and it slips right over those little sockets.
Wouldn't you know it, the thing worked perfectly ! This thing's a keeper. Of course, the next time I need it I wont be able to find it ...................
I have no idea what a stock Olds is supposed to look like, mine's sort of an Olds wrapper around a different kind of candy so I don't know how much applies. I know they didn't put Ken Harrison stereos or Kenwood dash speakers in them though. The wiring I saw for that KH-300 looks like it belongs in a colander, not my dash and will be immediately thrown to the curb when I get to that point. But, it doesn't look too hard to remove. If I had to get to the brackets for the dash speaker I'd have the stereo out and use this with a Philips bit or some version of it.
A hidden Bluetooth amp and head unit with a wired handheld control will probably replace it. Maybe a Retrosound, I dunno. More worried about EFI maps just now. .
