Danbury mint has done it to me again

A couple months ago they sent me info on the 49 88 coupe so I figured it would be my last one for awhile so I got it,well the other day the info came for the 49 wagon and it looks like I will have to get it too. I have spent alot of money with them and wanted to stop buying them but they are making it hard so what do I do.

I am not familiar with Danbury Mint. Do they reproduce sales brochures for older vehicles?

They produce scale die-cast models.

They got me on the 49 coupe too. I haven't seen anything on the wagon yet but I can guarantee it's coming, and I'll probably end up with it too.

When I ordered the 49, I told them I had said I wasn't buying anymore high end expensive diecast models and ended up getting the Olds and their copper 1959 Impala coupe to match the 60 I already own. Sure enough, a flyer came last week for the 59 convertible, but it's an ugly color combo so I'm leaving that one alone.

Are their models worth the money? Probably not, but they come up with cars no one else is doing in colors besides the generic popular shades, and they have done more Oldsmobiles than anyone else. So I tell myself "It's only one more, and what are you working for if not to have something that gives you a little pleasure in life".

They got me on a Farmall Super A tractor several years back too. Why did I want a model of something I hated growing up?!

Obviously some fond memories back then that are better left in model form...
I like old tractors, but probably because I never had to work the fields all day on them in the hot TX summers...

Too bad a plastic model company like Revell doesn't do more Oldsmobiles besides the 442. Those plastic models can be high quality if built right.

There are a couple companies making resin kits of Oldsmobiles but they require a little more work then the regular plastic versions and sometimes you have to come up with a donor kit to get the chassis and other parts,I have bought the real cars for what it would cost to finish a resin kit and do have one resin body but have not gotten around to start on it. I will be sending my order in for the 49 wagon this week.

Just keep on crying/laughing and keep sending in your money. Somebody has to keep those people working. At least, models don't eat anything!!

I guess I'll order it tomorrow.

Wonder who's car they patterned it from? The Casteele and Vandervort cars have changed hands and I don't know who owns them now. I think Mike Fusick's is a 50.

Yup Rob- I spent countless hours on that Super A in 'baccer fields and melon patches. Then in winter we had a table saw that ran off the tractor's PTO and we used it to saw wood.

I sold it and all the equipment shortly after my dad died, because I knew I wasn't going to farm with it and didn't want to see it go down from disuse. Looking back, that was one of the stupidest moves I ever made, because now that I'm preparing to move back to my parents' place, every time I turn around I need a tractor out there. Small tractors like Farmalls, Ford 8/9N and Ferguson 135s don't go cheap around here. I want something big enough to handle a bush hog, because I pay the neighbor a Ben everytime I get him to bush hog the place. Used to get it for $50 and he got the hay, but he's not fooling with livestock anymore.

At least no mainanence or care is required for all those cars, not to mention very little space!

1/24 scale or smaller don't take up a lot of room. Those damn 1/8 and 1/12 scale take up room and quick.

While we're on the subject of plastic models......... Models009.jpg DSC00054.jpg DSC00053.jpg And saying they don't take up alot of room? I beg to differ. 0413092017.jpg 0413092017a.jpg 99% of the cars you see are Oldsmobiles, either in 1/18 scale or Hot Wheels size. I'm pretty confident in saying I have EVERY version of 1/18 Olds diecast cars produced.
