Terry, the CO Map only has members on it that have bothered to put their name and location on it. There are probably a few thousand that haven't. Last time I looked at the map was a while ago, but it showed some peeps in the middle of bodies of water. Hope they found dry land or the map got fixed

re: Parts
Here are some of the guys I know (in addition to Thomas) and give recomendations for. There are others but I haven't dealt with them or know how they do business
Scott (oldspackrat) in Indianapolis, Indiana
Eric (jensenracing77) in Brazil, Indiana
John (2blu442) in Medford Oregon

Another option: you can also go to the Parts for sale section of this site and see who might be selling closer to you.

@ Allan hey the pics u showed me earlier those componets are under the hood...

Is that correct...If I turn the ragjoint from under the hood, it will turn wheel right side up

My shifter cable is at my house already

I wanna go homeeeeee

Terry,
You'd have to do this in an order because just turning the rag joint won't solve your problem. You need to separate the intermediate shaft from the rag joint.

1. Unlock the steering column.
2. Note the position of the lower intermediate steering shaft and rag joint lineup.
3. Undo the rag joint connection to the steering shaft. (IIRC they are 1/2" and 7/16" - something like that)
4. Pull back on the intermediate shaft so the horns on the rag joint aren't connecting with the steering shaft.
5. Rotate the steering wheel 1/2 turn so the rocket lines 'upward'.
6. Reconnect the rag joint to the lower intermediate shaft and snug down the connections.

That should give you the results you're looking for. If I missed something in these steps I'm sure you'll let me know.

The throw should be the same. Try routing it and see if you have the room for the slack. Just a suggestion.

Don't give up on the car yet. These old cars can be a never ending tinkering thing to get what you want from them. But then again, that's part of the fun! Or not! Most of us (opinion) can't afford a frame off full restoration like new so that's where we are at. If things get frustrating at times, just walk away and start another day, or week. When ever you are ready. I live in Michigan, so mine is not a daily driver though.
Good luck with the shifter cable!

Talking What does this pic tell you

OMG...its amazing how easy it was, once you get all the right parts...
It took all but 20 mins to install cable and adjust shifter ....took her for a wash and vacuum and my first freeway cruise since I got the carb...

WOW what a difference the way the carb sounds and feels....Filled her up for the first time well First time to put 20.00...
when I had the bad fuel pump...had to top off the gas everytime I left the house.

any ways I'm a survivor...giving up is not in my soul...thanks

Good for you Terry.

Just an FYI for you. I don't know if the previous owner sanded down to base metal and sprayed red oxide primer, or whether it's an epoxy base. Likely just oxide base looking at it. All things equal, the primer is NOT going to keep moisture from going through to the metal underneath. That means it could start rusting from all the moisture you've been having lately. How soon till you plan to put a coat of paint on the car? You'll still have to sand down and redo that primer that's on there for the paint to adhere properly, plus get any oxidation off the metal underneath.

Glad you enjoyed the cruise and got it running. How's the steering wheel?

Terry Terry Terry....ok I got it now. One of our friends on the coast is Terrie Ns I guess I had a 'gray' moment there. My bad and I apologize. Will go back and fixit. Don't feel bad, I get that happen all the time too.

No rush on the paint thing. I figured you had a plan and honestly didn't know if you had a handle on the primer issue. Good to know you're ahead of the game with that. Not everyone is.

Steering wheel looks much better right side up.

Hey Allan u know what..I didnt make any changes to the rag joint thingy, once I adjusted the cable and took her for a spin when I came back all the sudden the steering wheel was standing at attention...I was like what...Im lucky I didnt adjust ragjoint or it really would of been upside down...

It must of been stuck upside down, I dunno know how it happened..but it happened

and the painting thing...been painting signs for about 20 years now, MDOwood or metal depending, but always before I paint anything, even a freaking wall, I lay down a coat of Primer always....

Im not a jack of trades but a Queen of all trades....
