Cutlass Convertible Top Motor

Cutlass Convertible Top Motor
My convertible top motor has not been working right for a long time.
I have to use a shorting wire at the switch to get it to go up or down and it gets really hot! I have removed the motor and want to know if getting it rebuilt would be better than buying a new one.
Any opinions?
thanks!

It is a 1970 Cutlass.
I have not checked it. It seemed to work, cause as we were putting fluid in it and working the top up and down it seemed to cut off due to heat and current draw which is what the breaker is suppose to do right? Also, the wire i was holding to short the switch that controls the top, got so hot that I had to hold it with a pliers. So , something is drawing current. Wouldn't that be the motor?
