cracked tires no good

I know the tires were way old, even when I got the car.
Not sure how old, will have to find a date code.
Sidewalls were cracked to hell, but for a beater, they stay on.

Come out of work yesterday to find a half flat tire.
Better stop at the tire store on the way home.

Less than 2 blocks later it's on the rim Lup Lup Lup dammit

good thing the car has a jack and mini-spare
Sure glad I loaded the trunk with firewood today. :-)

They say $200 for two new tires. So, either throw MORE $ at the POS or kick it in the grave and buy another POS.

Air comes right thru the sidewall... I didn't even know they could do that.

Sounds like the 10+ year old tires on my trailer!

We have lots of used tire shops around here that sell still useable tires for under $50 each, depending upon the size. You could also check on Craigslist - I have seen some really good deals on tires there.

Where do you live at that 2 tires for a POS cost $200. You should be able to get four for that price. I should know, I just went to Mr. Tire 3 days ago and paid $210 for 4 new tires for my POS commuter. That includes the mounting and balancing.

I knew I was due for a set of tires when I sprayed tire dressing on them, and it started to bubble on the sides, lol!

CL ads are all either 1) wrong size or 2) commercial suck ya in ads
Belle tire said $200 for two tire 215-65-15 out the door
I should have asked for the price "out the window" I guess

BTW date codes 3901 and 4001 = weeks 39 and 40 of 2001.

only 13 yrs old, outdoors the entire time.

At this time I have installed a scrap pair of Cutlass Sport SSII wheels with fair 14" tires on the back. Front sports the original type 215-65-15 goodyear wide something... cracked.

It still goes flup flup flup and the car goes sideways!

Evidently 15" wheels, which were once huge and all the rage, are now laughably small.

ha, indeed.
The '68's even with rust have never been referred to as a POS

This is the '85 442 with the nice new 403 engine and rust holes big enough to throw a cat thru.

I bought some Chinese tires last year for my boat trailer from Firestone. I don't remember the brand but they were 14" and about 200 bucks for 4 of them. Used 14" tires are impossible to find. New ones are pretty rare as we all know.

Hmmmm, the aspca will be contacting you shortly... 15's are still quite popular down here, guess it has a lot to do with region.

Many of the RV people start getting worried when they go past 7 years.
Most of mine are beyond that. The only plus factor is inside storage.
