Was down in Bowling Green last week, decided to venture over to the Corvette museum. Most interesting part was the display with the cars that fell in the sinkhole, not that the best corvette is one that went nose first 30 feet, i just think they are as common as the mustang or chevelle. I believe three were restored (fastest production corvette ever made and the 1 millionth corvette made, along with another), the rest were too far gone and not worth restoring. Anyways, snapped a few pics of the wreckage.
Yeah I was out at the GS Nationals. I have a 69 GS 350 that I'm restoring, so figured it was a good spot to get some parts for it. It was a good time, gave me some motivation to get her done and maybe even run her down the strip next time I'm there.
We were in BG for a week for the show, also. We were at the 'vette museum, too. We were just looking around the lobby there at the new ones, we've been inside there and the plant before. Excellent Buick show, huh?
The Buick guys finally got nice weather. Seems like it is always raining for that show. I went Friday for the first time in 20 + years. I use to go in the mid to late 80s when that show was really rocking. Super fun when the host hotel was the Holidome. A lot of street racing back then too.
I had read that the attendance was better than previously for quite a while. I don’t own a GS, the only Buick in my garage is my daily Estate wagon. That said, I would seriously consider going as I do love them. Seems like a pretty well put together group for some brutally albeit beautiful automobiles.
That was our first time out to that show and it was pretty good. It was also my first time at a drag strip so that was pretty bad@$$ also. It was good to just see Buick cars as you don't really see them at car shows or cars an coffee meet ups. It was also good to see 50 year old car hauling @$$ down the drag strip too. We'll def bring going back. The weather was great too, we did some sightseeing around Bowling Green and then spent some time down in Nashville too before heading back to Northern Virginia. Not sure if my GS 350 will be ready by next year's show. Wish i would have known there were some forum members there, could have met up at the show.
Sorry I missed you guys! Yeah...always rain, so this year they moved the date way up early and the weather was great! Fastest run was over 200 mph, I forget the ET maybe high 7's or low 8's. Here's a good article from Haggerty who were there. https://www.hagerty.com/media/events...amily-reunion/
That sink hole was God reminding us that these are inanimate objects that mean nothing in the end. Way too many people make these old cars (and new ones) their god.
