What is the correct finish for the power trunk actuator? Silver zinc, painted body color, overspray??? Application is for a 1971 442. Thanks

Cars were painted before the latch was installed, so it should be its natural color.

 

Most were zinc dichromate

I know for sure in 1972 (I would assume the same for 71) had the power trunk latch installed when painted. They taped off the electric plug on the end and many times still has tape left on them if it is a clean unmolested car. I think they were zinc with body color on them. This is a 16,000 mile original paint car. If you look close you can still see the tape on the plug with red paint on it. The ripped off the end of the tape and plugged it in leaving the rest of the tape.
