Club Coupe is almost done

Car is real close to completion. Glass is back ordered and front end sheet metal needs aligned. Other than some small things its close to being on the road. I actually drove it last week around the block. Plan is to have it at the 2020 OCAs

Did all of the Club Coupes have that chrome molding down the side or was it optional? Asking for a friend.

I saw your red one in Milford a couple of years ago, and it was sweet. If this one is as nice, then kudos to you.

H chrome. Optional on all F85s. I never really liked it until I bought the car.

Thanks Joe. I just read the build thread on Freds 79 F100. Unbelievable attention to detail. Has to be the nicest 79 F Series restoration Ive ever seen. I had a 79 F150 Custom 4x4 short bed. 300 I-6 and a 4 speed, drove it daily while I spent money on restoring my first 65.

That is well done. I like the low option build. I assume it was low options to begin with, but what, if any, did you delete?

Well done, white is one of my favorite choices of color and the red interior in yours makes the color combo stand out nicely...

Great job on a Great 65. I was wondering if you used the same material for the seats on the dash pad? My 65 442 uses the red metallic vinyl on the seats , but the dash pad is faded and I can't tell if it was metallic at one time?
Thanks, Steve

The dash in this car is plastic. It’s not padded. I’ve never seen a red padded dash up close to know if it’s metallic or not. I’m going to guess it was.

I guess mine is plastic too, with what feels like a layer of foam beneath it. I will use the material I got from you and recover it in the metallic red. I had my upholsterer cover the last on and it came out very nice. Here are a couple of photos from my 64 that was redone and the original 65 dash . Might just paint the 65 for now Parts Place offers color matched PUI paint. They have a metallic red available.

Club coupe dashes are made of molded plastic. The padded dash has a metal frame covered in foam and vinyl.

Ive added a few things since the car was unofficially finished. The original washer feed hose had a yellow stripe on it. The reproduction coolant tag that is sold for 65s is not correct. Found the correct tag and clipped it in place. Hoses now have the correct blue stripes and codes. Also added a Delco distributor cap and hooked up the vac line to the flapper valve attached to the air cleaner. I totally forgot to run that hose since my other car was built at Fremont and doesn't use the flapper valve. Bought fuel feed line with SWAN gas logos. Installed an NOS horn relay I found on eBay. Horns blast so the problem is in the steering wheel. Lastly I decided to use the water valve that only was used on 65 442. Its a very rare part that guys tossed out when they failed.

Amazing...sheer beauty

The car looks amazing Jasen, gives me motivation to work on mine. That SMS fabric looks high quality. I still need to order mine...the wallet just needs some WD40 to open that wide.

As always, fantastic work.
