From the Lars papers I have, you're carb is from a 70' Cutlass & 442 455. These are nice papers for working on Q-Jets, and you can e-mail Lars Grimsrud, and he'll send them to you in a couple days. v8fastcars@msn.com Mark

Is he selling a rebuilt carb for $350 or is he rebuilding yours for $350.
Most carb shops shops should be around $100, or do it yourself for half of that.

And he will stand behind it with a warranty.
i dont think its insane but it's not that cheap either.

That's reasonable, especially if he's bushing the throttle shafts, the biggest cause of vacuum leaks on Q-jets!

According to the '70 service manual, this carb came on the 442 with manual transmission. It'll certainly work on your car, but IF you're into the numbers matching thing, then the 7040251 is the carb you're looking for since your green former North Carolina car is a Cutlass.

As mentioned, get hold of Lars, as has a thing or two to say about commercially rebuilt Q-Jets. He can do the work for you properly, and also likes guys like Cliff's. If you do go this route, tell these guys exactly your cars set up is, as will tune the carb just right. This is very important, as you wont believe the difference between an off the shelf unit.
