car slows down when i press the gas

car doesn't accelerate when i press the gas it slows down like it wants to cut off 1965 delta 88 i dont think i was able to hit 50 mph

put gas in the tank? don't press the gas so it'll speed up? tell your wife to push faster? - I can keep going but I think you get the point

More information is needed, this could be almost anything, including a bad coil or bad spark plug wires.

had it happen one time on an old carb equiped suburban, and also a very easy thing to try.

dirty fuel filter? try it cheap and easy.

I'd start with the basics and perform or refresh the tune. Check accelerator pump, and make sure the choke is pulling off at temp.
