car hauling?

Since everyone here is extremely knowlegable and has been very helpful so far, figured I would pose another question.

Car hauling? Any recommended companies? I would be looking at moving a car from Chicago to Cincinnati. any recommendations? Any known ones to stay away from? I've never moved a vehicle like this using someone else before and figured I would see what the consensus is.

you can post it on uship, its like ebay for shipping, shipper bid to get the freight, you get the lowest rate.

I have hauled had 7-8 cars shipped and never had a problem. I have used different brokers and Uship. I have heard horror stories about shipping but I have always had good luck.

Do a Mapquest first, using exact addresses, to get actual miles.
Helps with any questions by the shipper.
Some don't like to come into the city, too.
P.M. me - I've shortcuts to avoid traffic!!

It's less than a 5 hour trip. I bet it would be cheaper to rent a truck and trailer and go get it

PS, if it's not running and driving you'll most likely have to do it yourself for such a short distance. If it runs and drives have you considered just driving it?

The last car I had shipped - about 3 years ago - was a 1969 Corvette from MS to PA. A broker lined me up with a guy out of Ohio named Herman Baker. He was very conscientious and experienced with car shipping. He used a big Dodge diesel dually and a 2 or 3 car trailer and he runs east-west weekly. I have his card down in the garage if you're interested in his info.

As someone asked above, if it's roadworthy, why not drive it home? That's a short trip and flights to Midway are generally cheap. Take your AAA card and go for it. I flew to Midway and drove my SX ragtop home from near the IL/IA line in 2003. Had a blast until I needed to use AAA 80 miles from home thanks to a burned up wheel bearing. ; )

Well,

Now I definitely need a transport company. The chicago deal fell through, but I'm getting a car in wisconsin. Too far to drive it with the age and a slight fuel leak. I have a listing out on Uship hoping for a decent quote. Needing to go from Reedsville, Wisconsin to Oxford, Ohio. If anyone has and hints/tips/tricks, I'm all ears. Never bought a car this way before. First time for everything!

Here's the uShip profile for Herman Baker that I mentioned above, Apparently a lot of other people were happy with him too. He's out of Ohio so he should be able to assist!
