Car cover suggestions

Just purchased a 72 Cutlass Supreme with a nearly perfect, modern clear coat paint job. I was wondering if anyone had any cover suggestions.

I've been considering the BAP cover. It's at a good price, selling for $200. It doesn't appear to be a specific fit, but a general fitting cover. I will be storing the car in my garage in the warm months and in another storage location in the winter. So it will never be outside.

I'm open to any suggestions, but hoping to keep it around the above cost.

I really like the car covers that California Car Cover Co. has to offer (www.calcarcover.com). I've got 4 cars and 3 of the 4 have the California car cover on them (I'll put one on the 4th car when I remember to do it!). They all fit real nice, evenmost of the winter (I'll take them out on dry days, which are rare around here) and I take them on casual drives in the summer, usually 100 miles or less each drive. They are also inside in the summer when I'm not driving them. The covers I have were around $250 but I believe they are well worth it. California Car Cover Co. has covers for nearlly any situation you will be in. It sounds to me like your situation is very much like mine.

Thanks for the tip. I checked those out and they look nice and certainly a fair price. I'm leaning towards the dustop model. That seems to make sense for a vehicle that will never be outside. Plus storage may be in a dusty, warehouse type location next Winter.

The car cover I chose after doing some extensive searching was a custom cotton flannel car cover from Auto Chic (MPT Industries) which I paid $160. From what I understand, they are one of only three companies that actually make their own covers, and are not just putting a brand on something made overseas. I would highly recommend these covers, and you can check them out at http://www.autochic.com/covers.html. The person I worked with there was Michael Trueba, Jr. and he will walk you through what would be the best cover for your needs, and will make any custom adjustments for mirrors, antenna, length, etc. To protect your paint, I would suggest the 100% cotton flannel, however, it is only to be used indoors.

Any particular fabric you favor?

I wish I could tell you exactly what I have but I'm unsure. The number stenciled on my cover below the stencil "FRONT" is "1152" (their part number for that particular kind of cover?). It's got a real soft inner lining that slides easily over the paint and the fit is perfect. I don't use it outside at all - I don't know if it would be considered an outside cover but I just don't want to get it wet. I seem to recall this cover cost around $210 in 2007. I have the same cover for my '69 4-4-2. My '70 GTO has the same type of cover but they suggested I get a different "model" for the GTO because it has a nose that sticks out and makes the 1152 cover a little more difficult going over it (the GTO cover has the number "79" stenciled under the "FRONT" stencil on the cover.

If you go to California Car Cover with that number "1152", I believe that would tell you the fabric used in my covers.

These folks who you mean ?
http://autoarmourcovers.com/

Looks like they are actually around $43 for a Cutlass.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/OLDSMOBILE-C.../170704310133?

Clearly it wont be a super snug fit, as a 1970 and a 1974 Cutlass are different shapes - but if the quality is half-decent, it is a great price.

A little investigation shows that the folks who sell the 5 layer get an "F" rating from the BBB.
