body tag replacements

I know I have seen a add for body tag replacements, but I cant find anything on it now.
Can any of you help me with this? the body shop that painted my car sand blasted mine, and I am having a hard time reading it now. I'm glad I copied it years ago or this would be real bad.

I believe A.G. Backeast makes the body tags. Here is their website.
http://www.datatags.com

Their quality is top notch. I had them make a replacement vin tag for my Challenger. Cheers.

I'm going to have to go this route as well, my body tag is missing . Does anyone know the code for black bucket seats on a 71 442? Is it 930?

Yes, 930 is correct for a hard top.
970 for a drop top.

the good part is you have the original cowl tag info. Where it gets dicey is when cowl tags are replaced containing info that is not actually known, but based on 'belief' that the car has never been modified. You'll also need the proper cowl tag rivets for your replacement tag.

True. I guess if someone wants to change things up a little , it can be done. This makes buying a high end car a little scary.

Yes, it does. There are also vendors out there who will re-create build sheets and then carefully age them by saturating them with milk and then baking them against a seat spring. I saw that on the web once and it made me question the credibility of the seller. Makes you wonder about some of the provenance being flogged out there from time to time.

You're only replicating exactly what was there, so I don't see any issues with your project. I'm sure it would be a different story if the shop had lost your VIN and it needed replacing.....that would be a friggen nightmare IMO.
