The biggest mistake I ever made

I miss this car so much. It was the 1st car I ever bought, paid $500 for it in 1984
It got me out of some of the worst times of my life.
Made it from LA to Pittsburgh in 30 hours
It literally saved my life.
I paid it back by restoring it while my father had the Cadillac dealer in Pittsburgh, then it stuck close, like new again.
I was so stupid selling it. I miss it every day.

It's funny how a car can become part of the family. You can have a lot of good memories with a one. I think looking back is part of human nature. Remembering what we had what we want again. I guess part of moving forward is being glad with what you have now, but remembering the good times too.

Dude, I know how you feel. I feel this way about my vehicles, too.
About 4 years ago, my mom submitted her 86 CSB to the stupid govt when it failed emissions so she could get a new car (luckily a domestic). I will never forgive her. That car rode so nice; it had the pillow top seats, too... I learned to drive in it and it was REAL luxury, something no mfr even makes these days.
I put her on a guilt trip every time I can...

That 74 was awesome. It was made sweet by our nice Cadillac dealer parts manager who found everything I needed from the correct color tilt column with headlamp dimmer on the turn signal (maybe it was a 75 column) to correct cloth and carpet, that interior was so luxurious (very much like my Toronado)
It had a new Cadillac signal seeking AM/FM Stereo cassette ETR, it had a sweet dome / twin map light, I would like one of those now! 5 SSII wheels, 5 vogues LOL
those were the days $$$ was no object
oh well, today, new front brakes, LOF, new blower motor on the wagon, exhaust adjusted ... 3 noises gone ... $386
these are the days too I guess, still having fun with Oldsmobiles after all these years
