I went to the local parts place today to pick up some supplies in preparation to put my 355 back together. I started looking at gasket sealers and times have sure changed. There was red, blue, copper, black, ultra black.......thermostat, differential exhaust........the list goes on and on. The last time I did this I had a tough time choosing between Permatex 1 or 2. One thing that I have learned over the years is that everyone you talk to has a different thought on installing gaskets. Sealer on 1 side, sealer on both sides, no gasket just sealer, no sealer just gasket etc. Heck when I tore this engine down the previous builder had put red Permatex on every bolt thread including the head bolts. I was wondering if you guys would be willing to share some of your best practices for preventing leaks. How about the rope main bearing seal vs the rubber seals?
