Hi; Due to a problem with my left leg, I'm looking at changing out the Tremec TKO-500 in my '68 Olds 442. It got a 455 with 531 H.P. with 576 lb./ft. torque. I like that the 200R4 is lighter and takes less power to spin, but I'm apprehensive due to the weight of my car (4100 lbs.) and the torque combination??? I am already exceeding the torque limits on the TKO-500 and have been taking it easy on it. I have 3:73 rear gears so I think the 200R4's ratios would work well???

Any advise????

CK Performance builds 200-4R transmissions that live behind 9 second Turbo Buicks, but keep in mind that a turbo car will be a bit softer off the line than a built BBO. I suspect you'll be pushing the limits of that trans, even with high dollar internal mods. You might want to call CK and ask them.

Certainly the TH400 is bulletproof, but you won't get the OD. The 4L80E used TH400 hard parts for gears 1-3, but the OD pack is pretty weak, since it is sort of an afterthought in front of the main body of the trans.
