BHJ Big Block Torque Plate for Rent $20

Cast iron BHJ big block Oldsmobile torque plate for rent. Bores measure 4.215" in diameter. Plate is 1.750" thick. This plate can also be used on small block Oldsmobiles provided that the bore of the head gasket is larger than 4.215" (Such as the Fel Pro 8171PT1 head gasket).

Torque plate is a type "R" plate and includes spacers in order to use head bolts to hold it down. Plate is designed to be used during honing.

The fee will be $20 plus the cost of shipping both ways. Torque plate is located in Belmont MA 02478. Torque plate weighs 40 pounds. Renters can come pick up and drop off the plate to save on shipping if they prefer.

A deposit of $500 is also required (The torque plate cost me $460 plus $40 shipping from BHJ). This deposit will be refunded once the torque plate and included hardware are received back in "as shipped" condition.

Torque plate can be rented for any amount of time up to 30 days. If the torque plate and included hardware are not received back in 30 days plus shipping time both ways, the deposit will not be refunded.

The fee of $20 plus the deposit of $500 plus the cost of shipping from me to you must be received before torque plate will be shipped. Return shipping is your responsibility to arrange and pay. I will calculate your shipping cost once you contact me with your location.

Payment methods include cash, check, or money order. Other payment methods may be accepted upon request. Torque plate will not be shipped until payment clears. I am not responsible for anything lost or damaged in the mail in either direction. Shipping insurance will be provided at the renter's choice.

I will be happy to work with anyone who is interested in renting this torque plate. I am open to any questions. Thanks

Too bad I didn't know about this a few years ago. I already bought a plate from J&S Machine for about $170.

Ahh!!! Too bad I didn't know J&S Machine sells them for $170...

I looked around for a plate to borrow from a local shop but everyone I spoke to tried to rip me off big time. 400 bucks for rent? I don't think so. I got fed up and just ordered my own. I figure I'll help out other Olds guys so they don't have to go through what I did.

I think the one from "J&S" machine is aluminum.

The J&S plate is made from two 1/2" thick pieces of steel welded together. It fits and works great; they also offer ten grade 8 bolts and HD washers to go with it. I strongly recommend using someone's plate as I have seen how the head bolts distort the cylinder walls by taking a 455 apart a year later that had not been bored & honed with a torque plate.

Hi Stephen,

Do you still rent out your torque plate? I need one for my olds 455 rebuild. I live in Phoenix, AZ.
Best regards, Blake Hayes
