Berlin, CT New England Olds Club Show - Sept 11, 2011

Hey gang,

Just wanted to make sure anybody in the New England and surrounding areas was aware of the show in Berlin, CT on Sept 11th. This is an Olds Club sponsored show and I am working at full speed ahead to get my black 98 there. Hope to see a bunch of you guys and gals there!

I've had it circled on my calender for months. Right in my backyard too. I'm in Madison, CT. Was trying to get my car up and running for it. Then....... I get an invitation for the nephew's graduation party(not exactly my favorite nephew btw). September 11, 2011 1 o'clock in Amsterdam, NY..........grrrrrrreat.

Bummer on many levels, not to mention missing most of opening day of football season!!!!

Thanks Glen! As long as I keep up the pace I've been working at, this will be my car's first show and I am REALLY looking forward to it. Hoping for some beautiful weather and a field full of shiney Oldsmobiles! I just filled out my registration form and will be dropping it in the mail as soon as I grab my checkbook.

See you there!

John

I spent all 3 days this weekend working like a fiend on my car. I'm happy to say I made major progress and am feeling more and more confident about her first show this Sunday. I will be working tirelessly every night this week and all day Saturday to finish as much up as I can. We all know how we're never "done" but she'll be as close as possible. Hoping for some beautiful weather and a great show!

Is this show strictly for Oldsmobiles?

ALL OLDS
The weather is looking great. Lot's of inquiries if the show is on because of flooding and damage in the area.
BUT, no problems here
The show must and will go on............

That's great that it's ALL OLDS! As much as I love to see all kinds of classics, there's nothing better than being surrounded by nothing but Oldsmobiles! Still plenty to do on my car but making progress with every available moment. Really looking forward to a great show.

Today's show was great! It was great to finally get my car out on the road and to its first show and I met some great people. Second place in my class which I was very happy with considering I'm still finishing up some areas of my car. Great, great first show...can't wait to wrap up the rest and step up to first place! I'll post pics asap.

Thanks Steve! I wish I had taken more time to walk around and talk to more people but since it was my first show and also my first time taking the car out, I had a hard time leaving the car's side lol.

John,
CONGRATS on the award and glad you enjoyed the show
Your car is beautiful...and with a rear black quarter panel the length of a football field, you should get a special award for keeping it so straight.
I enjoyed your pictures and hope to see more. I was so busy I never even took one picture

Nice pictures and congratulations on the trophy for your car! From the looks of things a big olds will come in handy with a baby seat in the back, congrats there too!

Thanks Glen! Sorry I never got to find you and some others in the group but like I said earlier, this was my first show with the car and I hardly left the car's side lol. It was a great show and I'm really looking forward to as many shows as I can get to from here on in. Those quarters really are enormous and black really just accentuates the lines that car.

Ha, thanks Steve! You are right, we are expecting our first and he is due to arrive on Christmas Eve! Talk about a great Christmas gift! I just hope my car will eventually become a third (maybe even fourth) generation Olds and that he will enjoy and appreciate it even half as much as me! It might be a while before a baby seat goes in that car....at least until the "spitting up" phase has well past lol.

Congrats on Second Place. Your car looks fantastic. I hope to have mine ready for next year's show. Seeing your pictures from the show makes it much more disappointing that I had to miss it.

Thanks Blackpage! Trust me, I know how you feel when it comes to missing out on shows. My car has been in process for a long time and I've missed more shows than I care to remember, including the nationals last year which was so close to home for once! Next year is your year my friend!

John that is one classy auto...it screams the best of olds!!
I am an Eastcoaster ( moved from MA to cold MN a few years ago don't ask why!)
I have been to many shows in Conn and RI.
My dad had the 98 in 70, 71 72 and loved the Vista for the family.
Again very classy!!!

Thanks Nav! To get second place at her very first show when I'm not even done makes me very proud. She got a lot of attention and her first drive there and back really just added to the sense of pride. John
