Back seat boasting
Back seat boasting
One for the books,
I live in the PHX metro area, I live close (but not in) to Sun City one of the largest retirement community's in the western United States. I admit I am getting older and crabbier but not ready for the retirement community lifestyle yet. that being said I had a uncurbable desire for a Micky-D's fillet of fish sandwich last Wednesday, There is a McDonalds not to far away in Sun City they do a weekly Wednesday afternoon Hot rods and Hamburgers thing so I rolled the Olds up there, it's a small but decent gathering and they all seem to know each other (I'm a outsider only did this one other time and they immediately recognized me and the Olds as non regulars)
There was a beautiful 1956 Merc Monterey there and as I ate my fillet -O-fish with cheese I overheard the owner of the Merc telling another owner of his back seat conquest back in the day when he owned his original Merc and how he and his Merc's back seat were a magnet for the ladies !! I chuckled to myself as they spoke, I am not doubting him as he was quite a distinguished looking gent with with a great crop of silver hair (way more hair than me ) then the best part of the conversation, he bet the other guy a Big Mac combo meal that he and his current Merc still had it and he could still entice a gal to explore the back seat !!! my guess is both these guys were 80 or pushing 80.
My fillet-o-fish was gone and my fries were cold so it was time to go. there are a lot of hot rods and classics with in the walls of Sun City
thank god for old gear heads and old cars gotta love it !! P.S. his Merc was absolutely beautiful he should be proud of it and it's back seat !! I should make a return visit and see who won the bet !!
just had to share that little storie.

when i brought my 49 home to mi from tenn,we stopped for gas in kentucky,my buddy went up by the building to smoke, there were 2 old ladies there. one asked him what the car was,he told her 49 olds, the other looked at him and said, boy did we used to have fun in those back seats. we laughed so hard the rest of the way home
