71 supreme, split bench seat. The seat backs are at what seems like almost 45degrees. I see no way to adjust and nothing seems bent or tweaked...thanks for any info..

 

Check that the rubber bumpers are in place on the seat bottom. If they're OK, your seats have been hauling large people around and have gotten "stretched" for lack of a better term. One of the spotwelds on the seat back frame may have broken loose.

Check with an upholstery shop. They see this all the time. They may be able to bend the seatbacks back into correct position; worst case scenario you'll have to replace the seat. Olds, Pontiac and Buick used the Sport Bench seat.

 

nothing bent and seat backs are very ridgid just at about a 30 degree angle

 

well I found an exact match seat for 200 and it has vertical seat backs. All is good.
