B-J to auction Ron Pratte collection...

What effects, if any, do you see this liquidation having on the classic car market/values? The press release doesn't specify how many cars of his massive collection will be on the block, just "The Ron Pratte Collection, featuring cars and over a thousand pieces of automobilia, will be on the docket ".

I have been at B-J for many of his purchases, and know guys that have been guests to his garage/hanger. He bought a car that I sold. The collection is kind of a collection of "stuff". Not sure there is enough in anyone direction to influence much.

The only affect this will have on the collector car world is the same affect that BJ has had for a decade - causing every seller to think that his rusty P.O.S. is worth a million bucks.

I wonder if he is going to sell the Futureliner he bought a few years ago. It would be interesting to see what they sell for compared to what he paid for them.

Joe, you hit the nail on the head about BJ.

meh, it's just more BJ advance hype. If I bother to watch any of it I bet Mr. Pratt will lose his shirt on a lot of his submissions. I seriously doubt there will be enough of the 1% buyers willing to bail one of their own.

There might be something more exciting on at the same time, like reruns of the Beverly Hilbillies ....

Hmmm, entire collection for sale? Is this a divorce thing or is he just tired of cars? I doubt anyone will be as fanatical a buyer as he was, so look for lower valuation IMO

Do you think Ron Pratt might have cut a deal for less than the full sellers commission? You can bet he did.

Per the Hemming's link... "Barrett-Jackson, which will handle the sale of Pratte’s collection at its 2015 Scottsdale auction, has yet to release a full inventory of the collection, a total count of the cars in the collection, or Pratte’s reason for liquidating his collection."

Some reports have the collection in excess of 450 vehicles. Maybe some of the members here that have visited the location can provide some insight?

Mr. Pratte is one of a handful of collectors that have pushed auction prices on BJ Auctions to stupid money, be interesting to watch BJ after Pratte is history.
