Amazing the things they can do with an Olds

This one appears at Slatington every year. Can't beat the color!

So what's the purpose of a W-25 hood with the scoops blocked off? But at least it doesn't match the body lines of the car, so it has THAT going for it...

There are cars I would walk past at a show without a second look. That's one of them.

I wouldn't go that far. Someone has put effort into this car. The problem I have is with force-fitting a W-25 hood where it wasn't intended. The scoops were designed to pick up the lines of the grilles on the 70-72 cars (which is why they don't even look good on 69s in my opinion). Here, they not only don't align with the grilles, but the angle of the leading edges of the scoops doesn't match any lines on the front end of the car. I'll also point out that no attempt was made to match the lines between the leading edge of the hood and the header panel.

Obviously someone simply took a 70-72 hood and used it as the mold for this G-body hood. Had they taken the time to actually contour the scoops to match the lines of the car, such as changing the leading edge angle to match the front of the car and changing the width and spacing to match the grilles, this could be cool. Here it just looks poorly done.

Of course, leaving the actual scoop openings uncut is just plain silly.
