Aluminum Radiator Question

Hi guys,,, I searched the site for suggestions about using a aluminum radiator in a 70-72 422 big block car with a/c, manual trans and couldn't really find a answer. Anybody running one in their car? 2,3,4 core? Perfect fit or mods needed? Brand name and where to purchase? Like it or not?

Next question... I'm working on a tilt steering column and found the upper bearing shot. Is there more than one bearing in the "upper tilt portion" ? Also, where can I buy this bearing?

Thanks so much guys for your help.....

You might want to try Real Oldspower as well for performance questions.

I don't have A/C but am running a Be Cool radiator with Spal fans. The car runs at 180 no matter the weather or traffic conditions. I am very satisfied.

I am just running a cheapo aluminum radiator from ebay on my 455. Same 180 all day. 5 years now. No air. Be Cool seems to be way over priced for the name for me. I bought the Canada version if that matters. Probably from the same place.

I bought one from Wizard cooling complete for around 1100 really nice unit. I purchased the larger tubes, it fits with very few modifications,I used the original four core rad. top cover, I had to modify the lower mounts, nothing major just alittle bending.

I went with Ron Davis after a horrible experience with Universal Parts. It came with Spal electric fans and as mentioned above 180 all day long.

i put a Griffin aluminum radiator in my 72 W30 after we moved to AZ. Very happy with it after about a year.

Stamped tanks, painted, looks pretty much stock. I'm sure "judges" could spot it, but I'm well past that drama these days.

I would not do Entropy Radiator; Nice looking piece. My Brother in law got a real nice looking dual fan unit for his Chevelle, within 500 miles it quit and his car started overheating. Repeated calls and emails got no response. My Nephew, hot dog electronic guy narrowed it down to a circuit board. Once he ordered the circuit board he finally got an email response from them thanking him for his order. I was going to get the same setup but not now.

Thanks for the heads up... I'm thinking of still using my fan and clutch fan anyway... We'll see how that works out...

I just put this one in my car but it's still in the shop finishing the restore. so I can't tell you about the temp. For $204 I think it's a great deal. You can somewhat see it in the pic. Good Luck with your car

I got a Champion 2 row. Does not keep my 455 cool in Kansas summers. Gonna put it in my 350 car. It claims it will cool like a 4 row to like 500hp. It does not. I'll get a 4 row next.

Yeah,,, I would be kinda nervous about a 2 row even though they claim it will work...
