Alternator Date Code

Wondering if one of you might be able to decode this for me? Trying to find out if it's original to a 72,000 mile survivor car. Thank you.

So O is 1970, C is March and 23 is the day? Original to this April 1970 built Cutlass, thank you!

You are correct in your decode. Here's the alternator for my late October '69 built 442. 9K6 date code = October 6, 1969. 37 amp. The longer top left number indicates usage.

Was the 55 Amp an optional higher amperage alternator? This car has power everything so that would make sense.

As I recall, the 55 amp alternator was used if a car came with A/C or the heavy duty cooling option.
