Alternator bracket I.D.

Alternator bracket I.D.

Can anybody I.D. this bracket? Im guessing G body?

I'm pretty sure that same bracket was on a 1974 455 I recently had. So I'd lean more towards the 73-77 vintage than the G body.

Correct. The G-body cars use the aluminum bracket that bolts to the front of the head and a steel bracket with tubular braces.

I just want to know exactly what years in case someone needs this. If it fits 72 and also 73-77 would it be safe to say it also fits 70? so 70-77 or even earlier perhaps?

Contrary to popular belief, the brackets are not the same from 70 to 72. The alternator brackets for A/C cars are the the same for 1968-71. 72 was the first year for the style you have - and it was used through the 1980 model year.

Apparently this individual has some familiarity w/ this bracket & brace. The parts numbers align w/ what is described in the ASM.

1972-76 Oldsmobile Lower Alternator Bracket And Rear Brace With Ac Fits 455

THIS IS AN ORIGINAL GM ALTERNATOR LOWER BRACKET AND BRACE USED ON 1972-76 OLDSMOBILE 455 ENGINES WITH AIR CONDITIONING. THE ORIGINAL PART NUMBER IS 410353 FOR THE LOWER BRACKET AND 410760 FOR THE REAR BRACE. PICTURE 4 SHOWS LOCATION OF BRACKET ON ENGINE. FROM 1974-76 THIS BRACKET WAS USED ON 350 ENGINES WITH AIR CONDITIONING EXCEPT 80 AMP ALTERNATOR IN 1976 FOR 455 AND 350 ENGINES. BRACKET IS IN EXCELLENT SHAPE. CONNECTING BOLT INCLUDED.
