Does anyone know where i can get an alternator bracket for my 72 olds with 350 engine. Originaly had A/C but previous owner removed it. I was installing intake manifold last night and the lower bracket broke off. So can i use an aftermarket one or universal one. I did see one on ebay..but just wanted to make sure

looks nothing like mine. I also removed my A/C from a 74 350.
I got mine at a junk yard, the pics are thanks to 2blu442 but they are the same as on my car

 

Are you looking for the bracket like the one in the second picture above or in the third picture?? I have a couple of them from 425 engines laying around and you can have one for the price of shipping. Where are you located?

Gotham, that looks like a newer Olds Alternator bracket. Did you buy it, as I see the auction ended early? If not, I have some early brackets. A passing comment, the 1978 Toronado I dismantled had a 100 amp alternator and this kind of bracket. This maybe a stronger bracket, and able to hold a larger alternator. John

 

I have a bunch of Olds brackets off small blocks. If you show me a pic of exactly what you need I can dig it up.

 

What side do you want your alt. on? Cars that have a/c have the alt. on the drivers side. Cars without a/c have them on the passenger side. Are you planning on putting a/c back in the car?

 

you guys on this site rock..unfortunately patience is not one of my greatest qualities. I did go ahead and buy the brackets on ebay..Dang...they cost me about 38.00 bucks that includes shipping.. The car had the alternator on the drivers side. Yes I plan on putting a/c in the car eventually but thats down the road..

 

That 307 bracket just might work. Cross your fingers.
I'm using 307/350 alternators in my 455 brackets because of the regulator issue.

I agree with Gearheads78. Brackets are not that scarce to pay $400 bucks for something you could make your self. Their is plenty of people who could get the brackets you need for much, much, much less than that.

Brackets are not that hard to find. One trip to the wrecking yard and pulled mine off a 1976 Olds 350. Fit the 455 just fine in my 57.

 

Well the part should be in on the 14th so we'll see when it gets in

Well guys, my brackets arrived today. And wouldnt know it the top bracket doesnt fit, rather the holes down line up. So I will be reusing the top bracket and using the new bottom one. I put fresh coat of semi-gloss black paint on the both the old and new brackets. Oh well I spent 38.00 dollars on a lower alternator bracket. So lesson learned it patience...patience is a virtue...

Mondello and March are the only ones that I know of that have pully sets for the Oldsmobile

 

Alan Groove might also make some brackets but they are steel.

march has only for a bb olds not a sb and allan has niether..

humm... maybe the price of mondello is not sooo bad- considering that there are no other brands that sell this product...

It may be the only way to go in this case but based on what I have seen about Lynn from many people he has ripped off I would make my own before he gets a dime of mine.

great for the people that can custom build brackets.. but for those that have more money then time mondello would be the way to go.
