Aftermarket Dual Antennas

I have another question. My 56 has dual aftermarket antennas added to the rear quarter panels. The person that installed them drilled three holes each. The question is that now that we are doing the body work should I keep the antennas and leave the holes or weld the holes and lose the antennas, I still have the factory hole in the front fender for the factory antenna.

There is a top notch antenna now that goes right on the back of your radio inside the car.(radio shack-others) I'm getting rid of my old style and going with that. Both of my friends that have them love them. The hole on my fender will soon dissapear, I think for the better. Good Luck

I would get rid of them if you think replacements will be an issue in the future.
If not, keep them. They do add classic character to the car.

My 78z had a rear quarter antenna put in it before I bought it in 1995.
I kinda don't like it but it's not as old school as yours, so it looks better on yours.

I think it is simply a matter of what you like. You have 4 responses prior to mine and no consensus. For my taste, I would be in Jamesbro's court. I would put the antenna back on the front fender. Then again, that is just my opinion. It is your car and do it like you like. By the way, I like your car. Keep us updated as it progresses.

I think the duals look good on your car, as that mod was popular back in the days.
You know you get double the radio reception with them also....

I think the dual antennas look right at home on your car.

Is that a spotlight in front? if so,is there one on the driver side also?
If those are spotlights, the antennas really look right at home.

well for those of you not in your 60's, dual antennae were a mildly popular fad in the late 50's early 60's. there were two types. slanted in the rear and straight in the front. I always thought the slanted ones only looked good on 57 Chevy's. But I guess if someone doesn't keep them around no will know they ever existed.

I did have spots on fake both sides but I am leaning toward getting out the welder and grinder and filling the holes. I have several weeks to think about it and thanks for the feedback.

I'm having my car painted now so filling in the hole and doing away with the antenna was a no brainer. I think if I wasan't painting the car and tearing it all apart, I would leave matters alone. Good luck either way!
