Any decent antennas out there?

I spent way too much time stuffing in a 60's Olds AM radio into a 1-din chop job the prior idiot left in the dash. When I fired up this Ebay baby she turned on and the back-light worked! But the strange 10" speaker in the dash was blown. Found a repopped one and surgically replaced it. Now she pulls in a couple a scratchy channels - both bad.

Okay, so it's the fender mount antenna that's toast. Looking around, there's no quality antennas to be found! I found a cool 3-section telescoping one that was suspiciously priced at $12.00. Well you know the rest. When tightening it to slightly over snug, the threads failed. It was still wiggly when the thing failed!

Anyone have a source for reasonable replacements? Gotta have that old-school look ya know?

OEM antenna assemblies are, for some stupid reason, very hard to find on 66/67s.

I used to buy antennas at Radio Shack for cheap. Don't know if they still sell them. Amazon, ebay, wrecking yards, members here...etc.

Man this is an old post I thought died? Thanks for the bump JR!

Good suggestions. I spotted an Ebay NOS telescoping mast that worked out dandy fine. May order a backup - they're getting tricky to find and I was going "close to" OEM.

be persistent?

I regularly check the WANTED section, and don't recall seeing this need posted before.

Then again it may just be my CRS acting up.

And, no, I don't have that item.

Okay starting a thread on a stupid antenna is scary but finding a quality product seemed daunting with only cheap junk out there. I can't imagine why fender mount telescoping masts are not popular these days? Wait, only three cars a year need 'em.

I need to find my orange, Phillips 76 ball to top her off.

Glad we could help. I never thought about these things becoming rare but it makes sense.

Orange Phillips ball would be good on that car.
