88 & 89 Chicago Auto Show pictures

Going thru some organizing of photo's and came across a set I took at the 1988 Chicago Auto Show, unfortunately put '89 in the title....would have been in February of that year, enjoy!
Looks like I was taking alot of pic's of the concept cars....

I think that one may be a Riviera concept....

I was at that show. I went every year for decades. My Dad would come get me out of school to go for a day. Later I would go several times each year. It just isn't the same not being in the REAL McCormick place. Yes I know the "real, real" McCormick Place burned down.

My Dad was a car buff. We went to the car show each year at McCormick Place. Dad completely freaked out when it burned down (I was 15 y.o.). At the time he was still working in downtown Chicago for AT&T. Heck me & my friends freaked out also, I guess.

Boy that's the way to do it, always had to go after school or after work when most of the times it was jam packed....

We went ice skating in the streets and sidewalks when that puppy hit. That was something else.

Always loved looking at the concept cars and then being mostly disappointed when the cars come off production lines. Thanks for sharing

After I reviewed the pic's again.... I think I have a mix of the '88 & '89 Chicago Auto show in there?
The reason I say that is I see I have the Dodge Viper concept car in there, looking that up it appears that was 1989... And as far as concept cars,,, turned out to be fairly true to form when brought to production...

That's okay, I was at that show, too. I remember the Viper up on its turn table, people stacked 5 and 6 deep trying to get a look.

Dodge Viper

A friend of mine has a 74 Mercury Capri. I told him he needs to do a 6.8l Triton V10 swap. He doesn't believe me.
