86 REGAL idles BUT no power
Good point more info would be helpful. It's a 86 Regal Limited 307(5.0) A NEW EDELBROCK AVS2 1906 8312 CARB and I'm pretty sure nothing under the hood has been taken out. I just got the car from my dad. He had the carb put on before he got sick and passed last year so I can't ask him any questions. But it was running by the time I got it just starts and idle. I ran all the old gas out while that was going on I put gas treatment. (Sea Foam and I can't remember the other one that was added they weren't but in at the same time). The Fuel Pump is new gas is flowing through the filter good. I did fix 2 vac hoses, cleaned the PCV value it ran a little better after that. It seems like the carb is sucking a lot of air when I try to accelerate. Haven't done any test runs, I'm having problems trying to back out of the garage.

Sounds like the carb was never fully set up. It won't just magically work slapping it on. It needs to be adjusted to the engine it's on top of.
I'm not a fan of those carbs, but some people love them. I'd suggest sending your old Quadrajet to Ken at Everyday Performance, and reinstall it.

The 307 in your Regal uses the Computer Controlled Combustion system. This means that the ECU controls both the carb and the distributor timing (among other things). Replacing the original carb with an aftermarket one eliminates the throttle position sensor that the ECU needs to control the advance curve, which means that the distributor is now locked in the default "limp home" mode. You need to replace the original distributor with an older, non-computerized one to get the car to run right.

Sorry for the loss of your Dad.
As others have mentioned the original carburetor and distributor are integral parts of this car's CCC (Computer Command Control) system. The car isn't going to run without both installed and properly adjusted.
If you have the original carb try putting it on and start a diagnosis.
Good luck and again, sorry for your loss.
