'84 cutlass 307 w/high idle

I have a bone stock '84 cutlass calias with a 307 that will not idle down. I have checked all the vacuum lines and replaced some. I have adjusted the idle screw, nothing seems to slow the idle down. It is idling @ about 2000-2200 rpm all the time. I wanted to know if anybody had any suggestions before i replace the carb. Any ideas would be a big help.

Did you try a new carb to manifold gasket? Check your power brake booster also.

In difficult cases you might want to try removing and capping EVERY vacuum line on the intake and carb. Connect lines one at a time till your problem appears. When it does, that's your culprit.

My 72 plymouth was doing that. It was the carb dumping fuel. But it could be any of the above.

Start it and mash the pedal to the floor and let off real quick.

Mine did that, the carb was stuck open / accel stuck
