85 442 options
#2
The '85 442 I owned several years ago had power windows and was generally much better optioned than the '87 442 I drive now. Which is why I was surprised to see an '85 442 with manual windows this past weekend at Homecoming in Lansing. It wasn't a total stripper either, as it had T-tops. So that's a sample of one; but I have no proof documentation-wise.

Fyi
All 1985 & 86 442s were built on the Calais platform. Didn't the Calais include power windows & locks as standard equipment?
I have owned 5 1985-86 442s & they all had power windows & locks.

One 'option' that was standard on all 80's Hurst Olds and 442's was AC. Ironicly, it's the one option I would rather not have on my 442!

A/C was a mandatory option and charged out separately, but later was included and charged for inside the 442 package by 1987.
Leather wrapped 2 spoke steering wheel
black headlight trim with bright edges
reclining buckets
power steering/power brakes disc up front, drum in back

Salon indeed. Not sure why I was thinking Calais.
In 1980 you could get a 442 without a/c. My friend Bill Bergeson in Medicine Hat AB has a black & gold black interior T top car that he bought from the original owner in Kelowna BC & it has no a/c. Only one I have ever seen.

When I bought my wife a new 85 442 in December of 84, there was another 85 on the showroom floor with manual windows, T-tops, and claret vinyl interior. Never seen another optioned like this or heard of one. I started to buy that one but my wife didn't want the T-tops. I know it was factory because the window sticker listed the options as well as the 442 option.

OooBought the car suprise suprise!!the good is its very solid no rust in rear section trunk or wheel wells an minor on the door bottoms I seepeople wanting a few hundred for doors that look worse..the bad is the wiring under the hood is a mess the battery being connected makes the 4 ways say on an if you can get them off yapping the fender brings them back an you have to pull the starter wire before turning the key to get it to start..
Neat stuff..as mmentioned manual windows an locks yet a 6 slot cassete deck in the console

Here's his pictures. He emailed them to me, so I'm posting them in behalf of the70442.
