69 vs. 70 A Body Core Support

What are the major differences between the 69 and 70 A body core supports?

Well, all "A-body" core supports are completely different. I assume you mean Oldsmobile A-body. The biggest difference is the hood latch, but the two years are different and do not easily interchange. Every single Cutlass core support from 1964 to 1972 are one year only.

That's what I kinda figured. As you may know I was sold the 1970 442 from hell by a real dirt ball. Through all the crap my body guy dealt with, the fact that the core support was a 69 and not a 70 was overlooked. Since the hood was changed and the latch was missing, we did not catch the fact that the latch was not going to work. He is much more schooled in the 68's and isn't quite sure what all the 69 support will affect. The front end is assembled and actually looks really good. He feels the top of the grills should be up higher toward the hood but is 100% sure. At this point I think I am going to keep the 69 support. If the only issue is the latch, the hood pins should secure the hood and not be a problem. Is this rational or is there something I'm missing?
He said if I want to find a 70 support he would swap it out but I'm really at the end of my restoration rope and budget. Unless using what I have will cause some sort of irreversible damage I think I'm going to leave it for now.

The '69 core support has some value if it is in good shape. They do not reproduce so good ones for high end restorations are hard to find. The 70 core supports are reproduced and available through some of the vendors.

Thanks for the heads up Tim. That's something to think about moving forward. How do I know if it's truly a 69 support? Is it stamped somewhere?

Rick, I will try to get you a couple of pics tomorrow of each if you like.
I don't have them off the car, but I can show pics of the top and latch areas.

I would really appreciate that. Not in any big hurry so whenever you get a chance that would be great.

Thanks

I saw that but I think I'm going to keep the one I have for now. Looks like a real nice unit. Thanks for sharing.
