69-70 Cutlass body question

I have a 69 Cutlass Supreme, right now it has the bumper, grill, and hood of a 68 cutlass, I ended up with a 1970 cutlass 4 door. I was wondering if I could take the grill, bumper, and hood of the 1970 cutlass and put it on my 1969 cutlass, I also have a OAI hood from a 1970 cutlass, I would like to put them on my 1969.

So can I take the hood, grill, and bumper from a 1970 cutlass 4 door and put it on a 1969 Cutlass supreme 2 door? I dont want to have to remove the whole front clip. I just want to transplant the hood, grill and bumper.

Anyone did this before, can it be done?

I know the radiator core support, the large piece between the fenders that the radiator, headlights, grill, etc. all bolt to is different between a 1968 and a 1969, and 1970. They are all one year only core supports. You will have to change that going from a 1968 to a 1969. I don't know for sure if you can put the core support from a 1970 onto your 1969, but if you look at the hood latch between the two years they are very different. I have seen an aftermarket OAI hood installed on a 1969, but I think they modified the hood to fit the 1969 hood latch. John

Has anyone made this swap before?

For the hood I was planning on just pinning it on and eliminating the hood latch all together.

i do not know what is involved but you can put a 70 hood on a 69. i think you have to change all the core support but don't know. i have seen some 69s over the years that had it done.

The ends of the 70 bumper do not match the 68-69 fenders. Use Google Images and look for yourself.

Why don't you sell off all the '68 and '70 parts and buy the proper front end for the car?

The '70 hoods only will fit the 69's only if you swap the center 'headbanger' pieces..

To answer that question "Its my car and I can do what I want "

Why don't you sell off all the '68 and '70 parts and buy the proper front end for the car?
How much do you want for the grill, headlights, propers supports, bolts, and bumper. I would be interested in buying yours if the price+shipping was withing my funds.

As the car sits it has the 68 hood on the 69 body, I bought it that way. I like the 70 OAI hood. I have the grill and bumpers to a 70 available to me. The 70 and 69 have the look I like in the front. My buddy has a body shop and he aquired an extra gallon of primo paint. Hes hooking me up but Its got to get done before the 24th. If it was something that could be done I was going to make the 70 bumper and grill work on my car being thats what I got. But if the 70 bumper and grill wont work then its no big deal I will just have to paint both hoods wait intell I get a 69 bumper and grill then put the OAI hood on the car. It was out of availablity and convience that I would make it "wrong". But whats "wrong" if you can look at your car and it is built according to your own likings. I will be sure and not enter it into any "from the factory" contest. This is a custom car built to please only me.
