Here you go. I believe the fastest Oldsmobile ever made. 1968 Hurst Olds. 1 of 515 Hurst Olds made in 1968, and 1 of 56 Sports Coupe, 2 door post or 2 door sedans made. The post car was the most rigid, and the lightest car of the 442 models. This is a non-air car. W-45. D Heads. Correct heads, intake, carb, distributor, water pump, pulleys and alternator. The block is NOT numbers matching, as the original block was destroyed racing from Amarillo to Dallas. The dealer replaced the block. Even the oil fill tube was put back. The original owner is alive, and I have his contact information. The second owner passed away. The second owner drove this car to high school in 1970. Engine block had already been changed. Second owner put in the diamond tuck interior, and just cover over the original interior from what I can see. Second owner parked in 1976. It has been in storage until last year. This is a very rare car, and a rare opportunity. Currently the front clip, windshield & interior has been removed to start restoration. I know this is not ideal, but you can see more of the car and also see just how solid it is. I have the protecto plate and warranty card. I also have all Hurst Olds registration documentation, as the car is listed in the registry. This is number #329. I reserve the right to end the auction early. The car is for sale locally. Someone has a standing offer of $26K, but I believe the car is worth more. I would rather complete the sale outside of ebay, but if the auction ends then so be it. If I get a strong offer and the auction is about to be deleted or pulled, I will give the current high bidder a chance to buy. Please come see the car in person or send someone to represent you before the auction ends, as once the auction ends and you are the high bidder you own it. Gee, I always thought the Aerotech was the FASTEST Oldsmobile ever made (267 MPH).

Now if we are talking about QUICKEST cars...

The car looks solid. Given the NOM, price is optimistic. Gonna cost at least $25K to make that a $50K car.

If the seller has an offer for 26K, he should take the $ and run. It's a nice starting point, but it's going to be big $ to fix.

I am no expert but i doubt this car will bring 26 grand. I you have a firm offer i advise you to take it.

A few months ago, the seller was soliciting input for the value of the car on facebook, under the guise that it was a "client's car". He elected to mock my response and declare that it was worth at least $40k, maybe more...

It's a free country, people can ask what they want, and since it's on eBay, we'll find out what it's worth. It's a neat car, hopefully it ends up in good hands and can make it out for the 50th anniversary next year, even in current condition.

The seller better hope the offer of $26k is still "standing" when it comes time for the buyer to shell out the money. The car may be rare, but not many 26k buyers based on the current condition.

I've seen people get their hopes up many times when they think they are holding gold. And I've seen them hold that "gold" for a long time. They usually get rooked themselves and cannot get past it so they convince themselves it is a big $$$ car. Unfortunately that car looks barley worth $2,600. Again, to much Barrett Jackson.

Seriously? For a real 1968 H/O? You can't buy a 1968 Cutlass in that condition for $2600.

Market value for this car is probably mid-teens. Both $2600 and $26,000 are delusional numbers.

i bought this car 6 years ago for 40 k matching #s non a/c d head, original interior except seat covers &rug,orig california car decent repaint,needed exhaust manifolds,tires, calipers rebuilt to be a driver, I thought i was over paying (wanted it for 35ish )but they dont come around much solid, matching numbers. I like this car for sale because its a post non a/c, but depending on the block (warranty stamping ?) and how solid the body 13 - 18 range? top dollar for 68s seems like 60ish to me while 69s bring more and there were almost twice as many made and they were slower! ? I think 68s are much nicer and under rated but thats me

There's no rhyme or reason to auction sale prices. To your point, the Oldsmobiles that consistently bring the highest values at auction are the 1970 W-30 convertibles, with AT, A/C, and "restored" with every single option in the book. Given the weight and the 285/287 cam, these are arguably the heaviest, slowest W-30s ever made (I don't count anything after 1972 as a real W-30...), yet they regularly sell for well into six figures. 69 H/Os struggle to break $75K. I have not tracked the pricing on 68s. Go figure.

Tried twice to sell my 68 w-30 one of 43 made. It reached 70k no sell. The 68 just don't get the money 70's get

no doubt 70 w30 is king of the hill for money i was just talking about h/o's (the muscle h/o's 68,69 not the sticker ones )and how upside down you would be in the 68 at that price he wants.and how the cars arent really recognized as that valuable

Wow, these are really high on my wish list, I too think they are way under valued but saying that this car would be a labor of love.

This guy might be doing the smart thing - perceived value. Didn't get many hits at 26k now asking 38k, someone might actually think 29k is a steal now.

driverchoice, thats a nice hurst (and what you paid is around what it would cost for another one I've located) and nice Ram Rod too. To answer a few of your questions, yes - warranty stamping block. you are one of the very few to comment on the body. seller doesn't state much of anything on condition/dent/rust/repair/accident/original paint or not/etc in the ad. guess that's where the 'see in person' comes in.

hey thanks for the compliments ,I guess you really want a 68h/o ( was trying to keep the thread on them ).the car looks like it has most of the specific parts ,(missing some wood on the dash,no console,scoop on right)and it actually looks in the pics to be solid and maybe orig paint on right side ,the left and hood looks repainted.looks like it had aftermarket a/c?with that extra pulley on the crank and maybe its the pic but that left frame horn could be funky by the swaybar bushing?but fixable.i think its pretty cool- its a post non a/c,could have some orig markings if its not to molested (mine does really cool) really rare considering 515 made 56 post?(i dont know)and supposedly about 200 total left? but unless you have too much money you cant pay that.its gong to depend on how bad you want that car ,when i bought mine it was more than i wanted to pay but i knew i could make more money easier than finding that nice a car again and i didnt buy it to sell - good luck hope you find what your looking for

I want a 72 HO some day. Not sunroof. Would consider a convertible. I think I'd want a rally pac, AC and an FM radio if I got to pick options. I'd take power windows.

The car is over priced, and any one spending that amount of money would be buried in the cost. The cost to restore the car, and the price of the car would exceed its value.

I agree with you. How many guys have seen two 68 hurst oldsmobiles for sale at the same place not restored? How about at the same location a 69 hurst olds as well? Would you believe that there was also a 65 442 and a 67 442 a 68 442 and a 68 cutlass s all at the same location none restored and all for sale.

When I was looking for a car I came across a 68 H/O that was all original except for A recent paint job. As much as I liked it I just couldn't justify the asking price

I just got back from my friends home in Clovis, Ca. with his 3 68 H/O's 2 69 H/O's and 20 other Olds 442 Cutlass. I tried my best for three days to get him to sell his cars not to me but to the Olds guys that want Olds cars. Some know this guy if you think you want a 68 or 69 H/O give me a email and i'll let you try who knows ? PM only

I talked to the owner today and told him any offer over 24K he should take.
He stated he's got an offer of 30 or lows 30s for the car. The east coast buyer is ready to wire the money and have his shipper pick the car up.


I know of Dennis but have lost touch with him. I do recall his recent CL posting about having to sell a bunch of stuff and the pic showed a couple 68 H/Os along with loads of parts.
