68-72 A-Body windshield upper stainless molding: Hardtop vs. Convertible differences

Can someone provides detailed differences between convertible upper windshield molding and hardtop?

I cannot recall which is which. One has a small cutout the other does not. What is the purpose of the cutout and why one has it the other does not?

Which one is hardtop and which one is convertible? And yes, I searched but failed to find the answer other than they are different

Why don't you start by posting a pic of STAINLESS trim.

Is the picture in the first post of the wrong trim? The only difference I can see is the shape of the end (one with cutout, and another without). I know you and I went thru this research years ago, but I can't remember which is which.
I am trying to inventory what trims I have before posting them up for sale. I will try to get a better picture later.

The two pieces in your original pic look like they are aluminum.

On the 68/8-72's...the stainless trim across the top of the w/shield is LONGER than the hardtop trim. I have one here (68-72 convert Abody) but there aren't any "notches" or "cutouts" on the ends...nor are there on the hardtop pieces.

Thanks for reminding me about the length difference. The other variable is either the curvature or the end shape (notch). I do recall some have the notch.
Just for fun, I searched on eBay and found a hardtop with a notch. Maybe its a Chevelle thing for weight reduction
