68 442 Cowl/aftermarket hood

I've seen this topic brought up before, and have searched ALLOT. But I'm hoping there might be some additional insight. I'm looking to see if anyone knows of a company that makes an aftermarket small cowl hood for a 68. I want to retain the factory "vent" inserts and want to stick with a nice slope on the cowl that compliments the factory bodylines. I've found a 68 convertible with a cowl that does retain the chrome "vents" but it looks like it was designed with a straight edge. I've also found image that from the front perspective of another 68 that makes it look like it has a narrow cowl, almost like a power bulge. However it doesn't. It's just the angle and lighting playing tricks. But I think it looks good and would give me the extra couple inches of clearance that I need.
I've thought about buying a second hood and seeing if between myself and my friends that work at or own body shops, we could cut the factory bulge of the steel hood and add some height and slope to it. It's either that or I buy a flat fiberglass hood, cut it up, and re-shape it myself.

Interesting idea. Good luck with it, I'll be watching.

We shall call it the "Dr. Olds Power Bulge!"
Having it look like a Chevelle Cowl is exactly what I'm not after. I'm not planning on extending it past the factory vent location. I want to keep the rear vent as well. even if I have to modify or create a new taller "version" of that.

The 68 hood is already a cowl hood, Olds just didn't make it functional. He's just looking to raise it. The Chevelle didn't even offer the cowl hood as an option until 70

How close to the windshield does the opening have to be to realize any benefits? I like the idea but think this is key before starting w/ modificaitons.

Every car will be different. Only a wind tunnel will know for sure.
