67 f85 club coupe

Picked this little pickle up today. I'm already in love. It's got a little rust and a few scrapes, but who among us doesn't?

Of course the last pic is just a print of the protect-o-plate but the plate was there as well.

S7D21= Saginaw 3 speed April 21
OSC= 3.08 NON POSI rear which was standard on 3 speed Saginaw with low compression 250hp 330 motor
W######L= engine unit number located on pass cylinder behind alternator. I believe W-L is 330 low compression
915= red bench seat
RR = red car top and bottom
And the other set of digits is ur vin

May be totally off and u can get the info in the chassis or assembly manual I believe. I guessing this from memory and years of parting out 66-67 cars.

Is ur car an original 3 speed? I'm sure someone will chime in and correct what I messed up. Kurt Shubert knows it all he will def correct me. Lol

Yes it's a 3 speed but it's a bench floor shift. How common is that?

I don't think there is a break down. Regardless sometimes rare doesn't mean valuable but I happen to love three speeds. Kurt may have a better idea as to what the possible break down is. The model break down is published somewhere not sure about the manual vs auto breakdown. Check website wildaboutcars

Ok. Thanks bud. I loved the car because of what it didn't have. No a/c no power brakes. That engine bay is empty! All you see is motor and wheel wells. Plus I have a 67 442 holiday hardtop and always wanted a post car. Should be a fun car.

Ya I'm glad I bought it. It's obvious that someone tried to half *** restore it but I think I'll just leave it how it is and enjoy it. I'm already about 6k into the 442 and it's nowhere near done. I don't want to try and restore another car... at least not yet.

So this car has 4 barrel carb, dual exhuast, and 3 speed floor shift. Is it the 3 speed hd transmission and the higher compression motor? Or could it be a conversion that someone did after they got it?

Wasn't the 3 speed Saginaw a column shift tranny?

Three speed was optional on the floor and being a w-l engine number I believe that's a 250 low comp 2 barrel. Hi comp 4 barrel is w-g if I remember correctly. It's prob converted over. Check intake number make sure it's a 67 intake and check Julian date also check carb numbers and see if they r dated for ur car. Regardless it doesn't matter. It's a cutlass not a 442 and any upgrade such as carb and intake will not deter value if not it will prob help it. I much rather have a barrel car along with many others. Good luck and again go on wild about cars and look at assembly manual regarding engine info. All ur questions can be answred there it's a great site

Great car. Where did you find it with no air? My son bought one with 6 cyl and auto trans, no ac, originally came from California.

Interesting. All the MT parts, and one less shift.

Are you sure it's a Saginaw?
I had a '67 "plain Jane" Cutlass with low compression 2-barrel 330 and 3-speed floor shift.
It had the Ford top loader.
Neat car, by the way.
Nice find.

I think its a Saginaw. The right side of the case says gm7 on it. There's a pic posted up above in the thread.

Awesome find, it has the potential to be a great toy. A 4 spd is a simple upgrade if you choose that route.

Thanks for the help guys. I thought it was the saginaw but wasn't sure. My 442 is a th400 3 speed auto with the og code switch pitch. When i first got the 442 I remember wishing it would have had the 4 speed and posi rear. Now i think i want to leave it as it was. And seeing the post cars I fell in love with them. I was debating putting a 455 in the 442 and bought one and started buying all these parts for the 455. Anyway I couldn't find an e block 400 so I was resigned to putting the 455 in. Low and behold I found one in Vegas from an awesome dude here on the website. So now I think I'll put the 455 in the post car and finish restoring the 442 original with the 400. Thanks to Run to Rund by the way. Also I'm thinking a 4 speed and new gears in the rear of the post car are in the works. Not anytime soon! I'm still working on the 442, but someday. Also the post car runs and drives so upgrades will come whenever, I'm just enjoying it now.

Also you can't see it on the protect-o-plate imprint photo I posted because it's torn. On the far right on the same horizontal column as engine id and OSC there is a letter y all by itself? What does that mean?

Is ur car built in 05. If so the y maybe may 1967 which would coincide with the April trans build date. Shooting from the hip here. But check ur build date on trim tag. Should say like 05A or 05B etc....
