66 W30 Option
There was never a factory 66 w-30 convertible. However I have seen people ad it , and the battery is put up on the shelf the same way as the hard tops but the tray had to be moved toward the rear of the car to clear the top when it is down, and a support bracket added.
yea george no go on factory offered w30 converts in 6. Such a shame. Imagine the value today. You could still trac pac one, but I dont know where or who offered the schematics for a convertible trac pac conversion back in the day. Donnely or Richards might know
The only problem with the trunk mounted battery in a convertible is the location of the battery as noted. There has been a couple of OAI conversions done on the 66/67 convertible cars. I think Jim Battle was the first to do it by making a battery mount on the side of the kick up. Another thing is getting the battery cable through the boxed convertible frame. The convertible frame has stiffners inside of the boxed portion and makes for a tough fish job. I know this because my 66 W-30 Track Pac car had a convertible frame under it and I liked to have never got it through. It can be done but it takes time. Other than those two issues it's no different than a hardtop or sedan.
