62 Olds Door Weather Seal

Hi Guys, Can you help. I needed to replace my front door weather seals so ordered and received a new set from Fusicks. They are actually Steele Rubber Products with serial number 70-0825-72, or Fusicks code of DW61SDF. The car I have is a four door hardtop 98. The rubber does not match what was original with the moulded ends being wrong at the hinge end and none of the locating pins lining up.

Yes I could relocate the pins but wanted the right part. Can anyone shed some light on this.

That's surprising. I bought weather stripping for my 71 98 4 door hardtop from Steele Rubber a few years ago. Their customer service was excellent and the part fit great. I've also never had trouble with Fusicks in the past.

I suggest you contact Fusicks and tell them you aren't happy with the product as it clearly is for the wrong application. Hopefully it was something innocent and they will make it right.

When I bought window sweeps for my 71 98 they came and didn't fit. I contacted the supplier and they sent me the correct ones free of charge. FWIW, I think I got window sweeps for a 71 Cadillac Deville by mistake.

There were two 4-door hardtops offered in 1962 - the Holiday sedan and the Holiday Sports Sedan. Maybe you've got the wrong weatherstrips?

Now, on to your problem.

That Fusick part number is for a 4-door sedan, which I presume does not mean hardtop.

But if you go directly to the Steele website and type in the 70-0825-72 part number, it does show it as being for a '62 98 4-door hardtop, among others.

Since this doesn't fit your car at all, I would say that the Steele website is in error about what this part fits, and that error is continued by Fusick. I'd return the item to Fusick, explain why, and get a refund. Then keep looking.

I would suggest Rubber the Right Way as one possibility. Their site does show different weatherstrips for 4-door sedans versus 4-door hardtops. I think you would want parts 12-126D for the front doors and 12-128D for the rear doors of your car. I have purchased from Rubber the Right Way in the past and have had no problems.

hi all,

I really would like to say how sorry I am about posting this thread before I had a good look!. I had rushed home and found my box of parts and rushed in to see if they would fit. In looking closely they in fact are the right seal.
I would like to make clear that my dealings with Fusick Automotive has been excellent and can not fault the service. I am sure that had this part been wrong then it would have been sorted without a problem. My Fault !!. In no way a reflection of Fusick.

That's good to hear that you have the right part after all. Now you need some of this to install the new weather stripping:
