455 Olds DOHC Street Hemi article

I just scanned and posted a cool vintage magazine article which was published in the July 1971 issue of 'Hi-Performance Cars' magazine. This one discusses a factory experimental 32-valve Olds 455 Street Hemi which I thought you guys might get a kick out of reading.

Was it the lawmakers that put an end to this program? or was it the fact that Oldsmobile didnt want to spend the big money on proper R&D or dyno?

Those are just continuations from other stories in that issue...I blurred them out since they didn't pertain to the posted article.

I just found that one on E-bay and purchased it. I'll scan and post that article when it arrives.

Ah,I will have to read the article again,I missed that part. I had just remembered them talking about the dyno not being able to handle the power of these high powered engines.
thanks

The July 1969 issue of Hot Rod discussed in the link that Boldsmobile posted above arrived in the mail today, so I've scanned and posted the 4-page article:

The July 1971 issue of Hot Rod that Run to Rund mentioned above arrived today. I've scanned/posted the 4-page article about the W-43 program:

Ran across another cool Olds-related article in the February 1971 issue of Car & Driver. This one is an interview with John Beltz (pictured on the cover), who you might remember pictured with Olds' experimental engines in the July '69 Hot Rod linked to above. He was Olds' chief engineer starting in '65 and was promoted to General Manager in '69. Some interesting reading...

I often wonder, if he did not pass away too soon, in 1972, was kind of shape Oldsmobile would be today.
Could of Oldsmobile been ahead of the automotive business, back in the 1980 and 1990?
