455 Cam Help!!!!

Hello all!

I have a 72 olds 455 I want to putting a cam in. need more sound, I want that nice crispy sound and lope... thinking of going hyd roller????....this will be a weekend driver, something I can driver 60 70 miles from home with A/C.

This is what I know about my motor!

Piston speed pro L2323f 30 over bore, Nodular crank, milling oil pump, 7 quart oil pan, double roller timing change, edlebrook performer intake, 750 Quick fuel main jet 74 secondary jet 78, it has stock heads G heads with comp roller rockers and push rods. I will be replacing with E brooks and keeping roller rocks and push rods! I got a killer deal on them so I may as well use E Brooks.
The motor has ARP bolts bottom end and top end, MSD Hypertec dist. 308 posi rear end. It has dual exhaust with flow master and heads. Motor dose have some miles on it not much has good hash marks in cylinders, compression gauge says about 148 150 don’t know if that’s good? I put a vacuum gauge on motor and I’m getting about 20 inches of vacuum so I’m assuming the cam is a stock grind. I’m thinking the motor with E brooks will be about 9.1 please correct me if I’m wrong.

What’s funny this motor sounds stock, has lots of torque and has lots of top end! I don’t know the cam profile.

What I really want is some sound with some go!!!!!! Heard a comp cam xe284hr is this too much cam, profile says I need a 2800 stall! Is this too much for the street….dont want heat problems

I’m open to change…let here you cam choices and what kind of HP and sound to expect!
