Doesn't look like a 442 , funky looking hood.Back in the day we called these mop and glow body jobs with the painted bent bumpers.

It's hard to look at, but it is a 71 Cutlass Supreme with 72 Cutlass Supreme grilles. There is nothing 442 about it except for the emblems and the style of the side stripe. The engine itself looks the best only because no one added their touches to it. It is simply one of none.

hard to tell for sure but those look like 1970 fenders, definitely a 71 bumper and 1972 Cutlass Supreme grills. It is a Cutlass Supreme so it is not a 442, rear bumper looks trashed.

I'm not sure what the debate is about here. The ad itself says it's a "look a like 442." He's stating right up front that it's not a real one.

I agree with everyone statements! certainly a series 57 body which also has 1970 only Sebring yellow paint. I won't beat the guy up, because he listed as a Cutlass.
I will not condone what was done here.

Why are you wondering? It clearly says that it is a Cutlass and states "This is a Look A Like 442".
Seems pretty clear to me.
There are plenty of bad ads out there without picking on one that is fairly represented.

it is because I didn't see that line this time
nor did I see it on the previous posts I have seen for this car.

Thanks for pointing out what I didn't see..

That is one strangely done car. What is up with the vents on the C-Pillars?

yes the simple answer is - it is not a 442 and as noted it says that in the ad.

but even if one is looking for a Cutlass Supreme there are numerous things to ask when looking at a car like this. I have seen plenty of cars with the wrong bumper or a 71 bumper on a 71 but they put 72 taillights in there, I'm ok with that but I'm just trying to point out to the OP that there are other items he may want to be aware of. Clearly the door panels look off, the vents on the c-pillars etc etc.

15 years ago I thought I knew everything I needed to know when purchasing a 442. I'm still learning and still trying to find a few items that my car either didn't have or had replaced with incorrect dated parts.

Well, what I found so strange (and so funny) is not so much that YOU missed the line about it not being a real 442. Any one person might miss something.

Rather, it was the FIVE guys who posted AFTER you did who didn't see it either!

Again, you have to look at this from the sellers perspective, not yours. From his: There's nothing wrong with it. And I agree - it's his artistic interpretation and last time I checked there's no law against that.

Do I like it? Not really, but that's the beauty of sales. You don't like it you walk away. No harm no foul. Whoever likes that type of customization on the car will appreciate the work that went into it. The bodywork is not going to affect how the car drives. And anyone who want's to put it back to original can do that quite easily.
