442 delivery gone bad
Paid top $ to get car shipped $1200 came
fast so fast the guy forgot to tell me he was arriving.
I noticed the olds pull up in front of house.
im like wtf is he driving it for?
first thing he says is he had to put $30 of gas in it which was BS because it had plenty of gas he just didn’t know how to start it up.
apparently it has alittle leak down issue.
he decided to pump it 20 times and flood it more. He decided it needed $30 worth of gas.
So that wasn’t even the big issue.
I go to open the hood and noticed he hit the car
and broke the grille surround.
He immediately denied it but gave up $200 so that to me admitts guilt.
I’m concerned about the chunk out of the hood.
see photo
Bruised front of hood Not terrible but it wasn’t there before
Came off in my hand when I opened hood

After just spending time repairing a hood on the nose, that's not a big deal. The hood looks like it has had some work done before, and it should be taken down a few layers and reshaped anyway. Still not a way to treat a car like this :/ Sorry for the bad start.

Car haulers have their heads up their azzes. Sorry to see this. My brother's 72 442 delivered on a multi car hauler. On top over his car was a rusted turd. The 442 was covered in rusty crumbs, lots of them and the car above had its over the axle exhaust pipe swinging over top... luckily it didn't fall....

Back in 2013 my Nova was delivered, by the seller, from St. Louis to Dallas...open 5th wheel trailer. His truck blew diesel all over the car. We had a BIG discussion about that. After trailering it to the local DIY carwash he laid out $ 200.00 for a detailer.
He was in a bit of a spot. He needed to pick up a car in East Texas. The deal was, I paid $ 1,000.00 up front for delivery. He kept it, if it didn't accept the car on final inspection. If I bought the car, he would credit the $ 1,000.00 delivery charge. So, it all worked out.

Did you verify mileage before and after the trip?
If there is a discrepancy I'd cut open the oil filter to check for metal as well as dropping the oil...all while recording it and a shot of the odometer. If he beat on it and caused internal damage this could save your azz. Listen to the engine closely.
Check the rear fender wells and tire treads for burn out evidence. Photograph!
A good carrier will photograph the car and miles prior and post shipping to avoid liability. I had a minor incident and because of the care, the driver took their claim company took great care of the minor blem incurred. In fact, I don't think I took their compensation offer as it rubbed out fine. (1999 or 2000).

I've shipped numerous Oldsmobiles and Corvettes over the past 25 years to get the special cars I want in the least rusty condition. I've never had an outright bad experience with damage but I'd be really pissed. That $200 will cover getting a new stone shield but none of the work, paint, etc. required.
If the damage and shenanigans were documented on the shipping forms before you signed for receipt, you should be able to file a claim and work with his insurance. Is he a one-man operation or a driver for an actual carrier? Did you verify with the seller that the stone shield and hood were all good before the car was loaded up?
Good luck and hope you have a good outcome.

When my Cutlass got delivered to Phoenix the master cylinder reservoir was very low. Apparently the car was at a steep angle on the truck and brake fluid leaked out during the journey. And my car was on the top level, so at least one car below got drizzled with brake fluid.

he apparently did some damage and yes I could buy the stone shield for about $125 so I have $75 left over to address the little primer spot it needs bodywork and paint anyway.
and he drove the car 3 houses over idling
as I heard him pull up.

He messed up the front of the hood a little bit and the radiator support piece bent up a little.
I should be good with a new stone shield and a little elbow grease this is gonna be a driver.
thanks!

$200 doesnt even come close to being enough to repair that hood by a professional...
but, all in all, be grateful its home, move on and let it go or it will eat on you, i have had some really bad experiences that cost a lot of money and time in court.
I finally let it go, and just got into the car...i'm better now..but it sure stings every time i think about it

P.S. guys for any off us that may be in a similar situation in the future. When first approaching your new to you car besides looking, smell, and listen intently. Our cars will often heat ping the metal when driven hard and fast once immediately shut off. You may also smell brakes or excessive gas, all potentially indicating that the car was wailed on.
