1999 Cutlass

I have a 99 Cutlass with a 3.1 motor. The engine has a knock but not a dull type of knock from a bad rod, maybe a lifter? Is there a way to diagnose it without tearing into the motor? Motor has 60,000 miles. I have owned it for 6 years. It's been knocking for about two years. Motor doesn't smoke or use oil.

How long have you had this knock? I have a neighbor with a 2005 century with 3.1 and those injectors kinda have knock type sound to them. I can actually hear it from close to 75 ft away from the car.

I don't know a lot of specifics with this engine. If I were in your shoes I'd buy some sea foam or marvel mystery oil and follow the directions on the label. At this point you wouldn't be forking out too much cash.
