1975 Omega

Does anyone know what transmission would have came in a1975 omega with a straight 6 in it ?And aren't they unibody cars ? I may have found a body to drop a 350 in as long as the price is right and its not too much work to swap it over . Im gonna start researching more on the omegas i dont have much experience with them.

Most likely would be a TH350 automatic or a Saginaw 3 or 4 spd. manual.

^^^This. The base trans was a three speed Saginaw. The TH350 was optional. The 1975 Omega was available with the Chevy inline six, the Olds 260, or the Chevy 350. Yes it's unibody with a front subframe, very similar to the one on the second gen F-body cars.

The two things I do know is it has the Chevy inline 6 and an automatic transmission . Not sure what crossmember they used in that application . And of course the frame pads will have to be changed for the olds 350 .Do they make aftermarket pads for this swap yet or do I have to source originals ? I read Joes post about using two different frame pads on theses .

Omegas are fun cars. I think your swap should be relatively straightforward. Rust on these cars is a major issue - especially in the sub-frame area. You might want to get as many detailed photos from underneath the car as possible.

I’d leave the original straight six in it and have something that no one else has. 350’s and 455’s are getting boring.

No one makes repros. You'll need to source frame pads from a 1975-79 Omega with Olds 260. If you can find those, use 2328 motor mounts. Failing that, you can probably use the F-body mounts for the 403 Trans Am. These are metal brackets that bolt to the block and mate to the Chevy clamshell-style mounts that bolt to the frame.

EDIT: It turns out that the 1975-79 X-body cars use the same frame pads as do the 1977-90 B/C-body cars and the 1978-88 A/G-body cars. That makes it easy. Be aware that these are RH/LH.

There was a light duty version of the TH 350, it was the TH 250, and from vague recollection basically was near identical to the TH 350 externally. It’s internals we’re not as beefy. The one piece lo-po TH 200 came a bit later.

There is a reasonable chance that the transmission is a TH250. Look on the passenger side by the cooler lines for an external band adjustment that looks like a short threaded rod with a locknut. If it's there it's a TH250.

Good luck!!!
